NOTHING GOOD CAN COME OF THIS.

"My Guests, a new feature that will allow you to see who visits your journal, is coming soon. To set your privacy preferences for this feature, please choose an option:

* I want to use My Guests to see who visits my journal and to be visible when visiting other journals and communities.

* I don't want to use My Guests and I want to remain anonymous when visiting other journals and communities."

SRSLY.

i agree. it's very weird. substitute 'unnecessary,' 'creepy,' 'invasive,' etc. for weird if you want.

how about "RUSSIAN"? ;)

whenever i go to IACUC meetings at work, i wonder about you cos i feel like if anybody on my friends list knows about the stuff that goes on at my job, it'd be you. my workplace develops vaccines and the animal testing makes me cry sometimes. part of my job is coming up with alternatives to animal testing. i am a bad lj friend as far as commenting. i need to change! wow, such a disjointed comment but i'm recovering from dehydration so i'm just gonna leave it.

oh no, i definitely hear you. i mean, i used to cut off mouse toes for a living. i don't know if i'll ever be able to love myself completely after something that heinous. principles just go out the window when regulation is involved, which is why it's a good thing you're looking at how to change such regulations!

i wanna see who visits my journal but i don't wanna be visible on other people's

[identity profile] iansane.livejournal.com 2009-07-30 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
that sorta makes sense on okcupid. I just dont' get why lj would do that. I figure most people will decline to use it, which then defeats the purpose.

[identity profile] freyja.livejournal.com 2009-07-30 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
i'm increasingly amazed at the weirdness other ljers actually want. sometimes i go and read the dev/support ljs and it just blows my mind.

LJ, stalkerbook etc are all becoming a little too myspace for me. As they add more things, I'm more inclined to delete them and run away.

[identity profile] tr2a.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
im fine with this.

[identity profile] freyja.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
i'm not sure what this means.

[identity profile] tr2a.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
means im okay with them having this feature. i dont give a damn and it'll be funny to get the stories of infinite drama & omg from others who do.

[identity profile] freyja.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
yes but that's not "good" coming out of it, that's just you enjoying schadenfreude off something "bad."

[identity profile] tr2a.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
which fills my soul with joy and once again makes the internet earn its wonderful title as "the best and worst thing ever"

anyway i didnt say good i said okay. right now its just potential

[identity profile] freyja.livejournal.com 2009-07-31 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
*i* said nothing good could come out of it. i thought you were challenging that assumption, but since you aren't i'll put my 'net hackles back down.

it will be amusing to see the fallout, but i just can't believe lj is either purposefully trying to increase its drama or clueless about the outcome. either option seems so implausible.
