sweet. i was worried it was going to be when i'm on vacation in the boston area, and that would just be too pathetic for us to be visiting opposite coasts. :P so yes, october. looking forward to it!
still working on your art. ran into a snag :/
(also busy making sure rats don't develop ulcers or kill each other-- watching them figure out the particulars of the dominance hierarchy is vicariously exhausting)
If only you could speak Rat, you could say to them, "Look, the biggest one usually gets to be top rat, now just sleep in a pile and swap odors and deal with this, OK?"
I bet it works out OK. I was always a bad rat steward and just dumped them all in the same cage willy-nilly. Usually what happened was that the new rat or rats would be paralyzed with fear for a few minutes but after a couple of hours everyone would be in a snoozy ratpile.
Oh, I wasn't suggesting that you should DO AS I DO and then everything would be OK, just theorizing that because rats are lazy and would rather just cuddle and love, like little raver kids, I bet it works out. Eventually.
