hotchix #51-75
part two of my hot chickstravaganza! for part one see here.

75. janeane garofalo. i remember watching the truth about cats and dogs and thinking "you idiot, garofalo is so much hotter than thurman!" and she is.

74. carey mulligan. she was sally sparrow in the doctor who episode "blink," and i remember lots of fans wishing she'd gotten more screen time in the series. i was among them.

73. penelope cruz. i'm not a big fan of her personal life choices (tom cruise?) but when i saw vanilla sky i could definitely understand why someone would become intensely attracted to her. she has the most beautiful eyes, and she's charming on-screen.

72. anna paquin. she doesn't try to be overtly sexy, and i can definitely dig that. she doesn't need to anyway-- she's got some really nice features that are almost a mix of the exotic and classic. i admire how she's had big fiesty ambitions ever since she was a kid and she submitted a home movie of herself to audition for the piano. and i love her wallflower beauty as rogue in the x-men movies.

71. sandahl bergman. she's a dancer, stunt woman, and actress who co-starred in conan the barbarian-- yes, the one with arnold schwarzenegger. i didn't even get to watch the entire movie, but as soon as i saw her in a scene i knew she had to be on my list. i even said so. aloud. actually i've started doing this a lot and it's embarrassing. ask ken.

70. hilary swank. i like her androgyny. i like how tough and strong she looks, like she's got the perfect mix of masculine and feminine. she was a karate kid, for chrissakes, how is that not hot?

69. robin tunney. i first saw her in the craft and thought that even next to friggin neve campbell (whose looks were really popular at the time, i still don't know why) she was the most beautiful woman in the entire movie. apparently she's still around, and acting-- she was in prison break according to my google search. which really sucks, because now i'm going to have to sit through it. *sigh*

68. tilda swinton. i just saw this woman in burn after reading and thought she was the most adorable thing in existence. her features are almost handsome rather than classically beautiful, but as with ziyi the androgyny works. the pictures i've seen of her as an angel in constantine almost make me want to rent the movie. the accent and the red hair don't hurt either.

67. angie harmon. she was in the short-lived series women's murder club. i remember when the trailer for that came out i was immediately taken by her snarly facial expressions. i don't think anyone else thought that was sexy, but i thought it was incredibly so. as a detracting factor, though, she's incredibly, almost painfully thin in the one underwear scene i've seen her in.

66. rose mcgowan. oh my god. well, first of all, i fell in love with her as soon as i saw the grindhouse trailer, because she's got a fucking SEMI-AUTOMATIC as a LEG. that automatically is super-hot. secondly, when i actually got to see planet terror, i fell in love with her all over again because she's got the cutest little mannerisms. she reminds me of one of my oldest friends, actually, who i always thought was intensely, naturally beautiful not only for her looks but her quirkiness.

65. zoe keating. she's just all shades of awesome. she used to be a cellist in rasputina, and then moved on to do some solo work, and collaborated with amanda palmer, even going with her on her latest tour. when she plays the cello it's like she's dragging something out of herself, painfully and sweetly. besides that, she has pretty fabulous dreds.

64. ivana milicevic. you might not know who this is. she was "the answer" in that house two-parter with the bus crash. she was also the girlfriend of le chiffre in casino royale. i just think she's insanely beautiful. those eyes are huge!

63. shawnee smith. she was amanda in the saw series, and probably the most beautiful psychopath i've ever seen.

62. yunjin kim. sun from lost. i never really appreciated her until very recently, when she's in her srs business clothes with an actual hairstyle, kicking widemore's ass (figuratively).

61. evangeline lilly. i actually couldn't decide between this picture and the one where she's flipping the camera off with an impish smile. as much as i didn't want to put her on this list, because i hate hype-- she really is very cute.

60. julianne moore. i've always thought she was very beautiful. the red hair doesn't hurt. even as she gets older she still looks ageless.

59. lucy lawless. as xena: warrior princess, she was a female icon of the 90's, tough yet scantily clad-- and at some point, gay or something? i dunno, i never watched xena. but i did watch about ten minutes of some superlocust movie, and recognized her right away. trust me, she looks just as wonderful in plainclothes. those cat eyes and cheekbones make her look otherworldy hot.

58. jodie foster. i've seen silence of the lambs, contact, panic room and taxi driver, so take it from my intensive research that jodie foster was hot, is hot, and will always be hot. i can't wait to see her with boy hair shooting thugs in the brave one.

57. kt tunstall. her throaty voice, almost eskimo cheeks, cute bangs, intelligent songwriting, and the fact that she ZOMG plays the guitar make kt one of the most desirable female artists out there.

56. jen grady. former cellist for the seattle-based band the waxfire, she now has formed another project called chelan. when ken and i first saw the waxfire live, both of us pretty much had our gaze fixed on her. she's got natural beauty, an amazing singing voice, and she plays the cello, one of the sexiest instruments ever.

55. dichen lachman. as sierra on dollhouse, she kicks ass and manages to look so cool and aloof doing it that you just know she's not even going to bother taking names afterwards.

54. gabrielle anwar. i just started watching burn notice and can forgive the lead actor's horrible grimace as long as this actress stays on the show. her character, fiona, is just the right blend of beautiful and unhinged. and who doesn't find weapons-obsessed girls incredibly hot anyway?

53. lena headey. as john connor's mom, she rocks the action and the drama on terminator: sarah connor chronicles. there was some contention early on about her lack of extreme musculature a la linda hamilton's T2 persona-- but for a woman with a semi-mullet for half the first season, she still managed to be amazingly hot. ken tells me she's also the spartan queen in 300 so now i guess i'm going to have to see THAT. *sigh*

52. zhang ziyi. first saw her in crouching tiger, hidden dragon and since she's starred in hero and house of flying daggers. i love how believable she is posing as a boy, how determined she is to be a free woman, and how beautiful she is no matter what she's disguised in. her action scenes with michelle yeoh in tiger should have their own slash fanbase-- the energy the two create playing off each other is intense.

51. kate winslet. i didn't like her at all in titanic, although like others on this list i was always admiring the way she got away with not being a stick figure like everyone else in hollywood. when i saw her in eternal sunshine of the spotless mind as the mercurial clementine, something just clicked. she rocks the bright red hair.
