yeah, i totally agree. and that's a nice parallel. one thing the dark side and the "bad" time lords have in common too is a sense of superiority coupled with a lack of morality. and that just can't be a good combination.

savagestime has a really nice bit in that essay about lacking morality, yet still having a code. seems very sith-like to me.

the mythbusters thing (actually a lot of discovery/history/tlc programming these days) is a worrisome commentary on our society-- are we more drawn to people destroying than building these days? are gleeful, awesome explosions all we're after even on these "educational" channels?

of course now i can't get over the idea of adam and jamie as sith lords xD
